My laptop is not getting any power through the ac adaptor. I have 2 different ac power supplies. One is the original and the other is a universal one. Both don't work but the universal one has a blue light turned on whenever power is going through it. The blue light turns on but the light on my laptop that shows you when its being charged isn't on. The jack is kind of loose but thats how its always been and its worked before. Also my battery is new and works fine but its running out of power and i cant recharge it for abvious reasons. Any know how to fix this problem?

Many adaptors are similar but not identical.
Look at the end very closely.
Did you burn out your lap top's power supply front end with a wrong voltage setting at any time? (Ouch$)
Try cleaning the connectors.
Try wiggling the connector.

On this model laptop, the power socket on the laptop itself has a little pin in the center of it, and it would sound as if that peg has come loose or has been damaged. Try plugging the laptop back into the universal adapter, and turning the plug in the laptop around while it's plugged in to see if it will connect the circuit. If that works, you might just have to jerry rig a method of holding the plug while using the laptop. If that doesn't work, you're more than likely going to need to replace the entire power connector inside the laptop. This is a fairly pricey operation, so it might be a good idea to start shopping for a new machine.

typical DC Jack problem.
The jacks on most laptops do not last as long as the rest of the unit. I have repaired over 50 since October 2006.

Problem could range from:
cold solder joint on bottom of jack
physically broken jack
cracked solder on bottom of jack
broken center post in jack

Cold solder and cracked solder is a simple fix if handy with a soldering iron. If not a tech could fix it in 45 min.

Broken jacks will have to be replaced, and that generally takes about 3 days to get the OEM jack back to your location.

If you are using a TARGUS u60 generic adapter, check to see if that laptop model is supported.

If the laptop works with AC but won't charge -replace DC jack
If the laptop wors with Battery but not AC - replace DC jack

Honey, i had a similar problem. It was the pin on the laptop which has become slightly bent. Go to a electrical shop and get them to test out new adaptors. better still, contact the manufacturers and get a new adaptor.

good luck.
