If the President is removed from office the VP does take his/her place. The President then according to the 25th amendment nominates a new VP that must get approved by congress just as any other appointee. Gerald Ford is the first Vice President to take office that was not elected. Up to that point the Vice Presidential post remained vacant. The speaker only assumes office of President if there is no one in the first 2 positions. Of course this provision is in case something catastrophic happens. According to The Presidential Succession Act of 1947 the order of succession is as follows * The Vice President * Speaker of the House * President pro tempore of the Senate * Secretary of State * Secretary of the Treasury * Secretary of Defense * Attorney General * Secretary of the Interior * Secretary of Agriculture * Secretary of Commerce * Secretary of Labor * Secretary of Health and Human Services * Secretary of Housing and Urban Development * Secretary of Transportation * Secretary of Energy * Secretary of Education * Secretary of Veterans Affairs * Secretary of Homeland Security Impeachment is the same as a Grand Jury procedure for the president. The a trial would be held in the Senate with The Chief Justice presiding.

I'm surprised that there hasn't been more talk of this. And for the girl who said that Bush could be reelected, maybe she should get her facts straight, it is going on 8 long years already!

If everybody ruled as Jehovah as their KING and LORD OF LORDS, we wouldn't need corrupt governments. Why should i support Bush...he doesn't even know my name! Jehovah knows everybody's names and remembers what is in their heart and the righteous who fear Him in his almighty greatness because he is omnipotent and omniscient. There wouldn't be corrucpt politicians & governments, if we all followed the Bible's Law. I serve Jehovah as my leader. Wars are so wrong b/c Jehovah created us in the image of LOVE. And Satan (the ruler of THIS EARTH) tries to convince people that they hate one another. It is so sad. If everybody followed Jehovah, there would be peace on Earth.

Do you think you could do a better job than Jehovah as almighty ruler and King....the Prince of Peace

more useful to make sure he doesn't get elected again (yes people he can the law is that the president can be president for a maximum of two terms IN A ROW. there is no maximum number of terms. and knowing bush he'll try to get reelected.)
