I really want to help- what we're doing to ourselves as humans saddens me. Unfortuanately I'm only in junior high. What can I do to help raise awareness? I want to start a fundraiser but stupid me, I didn't join NJHS (National Junior Honor Society) this year. What can I do?

It's nice to see that you care about the environment and humans impact on it. There are many ways to help some simple ways being
1. walk instead of drive when you can...this cuts down on fuel emissions
2. turn off the lights when noone's in the room
3. buy energy efficient lightbulbs so that when the lights ARE on, they aren't using up as much energy

This site has lots of fundraiser ideas including free ones that are service oriented like car washes, trash pickup, yard sales, etc.

These listings should be in your age range also:

And don't let anyone else's negativity bother you. Getting involved and raising funds for a worthy cause is a good thing!

Research, research, research. Write an essay and spread the word. Also, if you go to www.fastweb.com, you can apply for scholarships there, and there should be one based on this subject. With the money, you can form groups or donate the money towards doing something. Good luck in your quests!

Sheryl Crow said you should limit yourself to 1 square of toilet paper. Seems as useful as anything else I've heard.

P.S. I just reread you question, if you mean to help it along, run as many gas engines as possible. Get an SUV when you turn 16, make sure to drive it as much as possible, as fast as possible and use a lot of toilet paper.

There is NOTHING you can do. It's a natural cycle that has been going on for millions of years.

Find a more worthwhile environmental cause.. there are ones where you can actually have an impact.
