The cello in incredibly diverse, I've played with rock bands, bluegrass, folk, Christian praise, jazz bands, did the star spangled Jimi Hendrix style for a college basketball game, also play in a classical quartet. The cello is an exciting instrument once you can improvise. It's said that the cello can resonates most closely with the human soul.

If you like the sound of the cello, then go for it.
I think the cello is a very romantic instrument, and there are some beautiful cello concertos.
Elgar, Dvorak, and The Swan by Saint-Seans spring to mind.

I had to pick an instrument for middle school, and i chose the cello. First off bigger hands will help for reaching on the neck. I didnt pick the violin or viola because they seemed to high pitched and annoying while the cello was lower and smoother.
Violins and violas also seemed very small and fragile to me. I hope you can compare how you feel about the cello to how i decided.

Depends on your hand size and overall interest. I have played the cello and it is one of the most beautiful instruments there is. The advantage you will have is that if you learn the cello you are technically learning the viola because it is the same tone.

really depends on what you're into. cello is really mostly classical music, it doesn't have the diversity that other instruments do. i played violin and i didn't really like it, it was pretty but there weren't a whole lot of different things you could do with it. i loved guitar when i played that though
