There are several ways to extract DNA. If you are using a commercial kit say from Qiagen - you don't see anything during the extraction process and get a clear liquid at the end. But if you are using ethanol preciptation method, you get to see a white ppt at some stage if you have sufficient quantity. But other than that, you cannot see much with your naked eye, unless you are going to be working with a electron microscope which would allow you see things at the molecular level. Good luck.

In chromosome, DNA is wrapped around protiens as single stranded DNA but not in double helix form. hence when extracted we get in random coiled structure

The double helix is on the molecular level - far too small to be visible by eye or by common microscopes.
