It all depends on your body and your baby's health. The woman I babysit for had all 3 of her children before 37 weeks and they were all perfectly healthy. They were all normal weight and just fine. Some women need to carry until 40+ weeks so the baby is healthy and fully developed. By the sound of it, though your baby sounds like it's at a healthy weight and if you were induced at 37 or 38 weeks you should be fine. If it gets uncomfortable then I would talk to your doctor about it.
I'm not sure when the baby is considered "full-term" but I know that most of the development is finished by 36 weeks, after that it's mostly the lungs that are developing.
Good luck to you! I hope things go well, and who knows? You may even go into labor long before you need to ask to be induced! Hope your baby and you are very healthy. Congrats!

First of all, his 7 lbs is just a guess. My last baby was estimated to be between 9-10 lbs when my c-section was scheduled. She was 7 lbs 14 oz. His guess could be off by a pound or more. Don't worry about having a big baby and let nature do its thing. I would question a doctor's decision to induce just because a woman wants to. Induction is supposed to be done for a medical reason(health issues, very large baby, positioning of baby, etc) A doctor should not be inducing for no reason. Let your baby come on its own.

You can always ask...but I'm betting dollar to donuts he tells you no. Doc's dont like to induce unless medically necessary, and having a big baby doesnt make labor difficult, labor is difficult no matter what size the baby is. Hes not going to see that as a reason to induce labor, sorry,

My best friend was induced and they told her that her baby was over 7 lb and he was 5 lb 15 oz when he was born and just over 5 lb when he left the hospital. She also ended up having an emergency c-section because the induction didn't work. My first induction took 3 days and my second induction took 8 hours and I was already 4 cm when I was induced.
The weight they give is just an estimate and they can be off the mark.

More than likely your doctor will NOT induce you. There isn't any reason to. Babies can be 9lbs... plus you want to be atleast 37 weeks before attempting any type of labor or delivery to ensure that the lungs are fully developed. They told me that my baby was 7lbs at 35 weeks as well and he came out at 39 weeks and was 7lbs 12oz. You still got time. They could be wrong. They can't know the exact weight. I would just relax. You and your baby will be just fine! Good Luck!!

40 weeks is full term. You dont want labor induced, induction increases risk of c section by 60%. If u havent gone into labor its because your baby isnt ready yet, thats what they told me when they stopped my labor for the second time at 34 weeks, that just because baby is a good size the lungs might not be ready yet. hang in there, i know how you feel, it will be over soon!

what variety of swelling? Being brought on can carry approximately a good purchase of different issues, and has an more advantageous threat of c-sections. sure, it ought to reason it to harm extra. maximum docs have miscalculated the due date, and your toddler, regardless of if in all probability approximately complete term appropriate now, won't be waiting to be born for yet another week or 2. no count if this is a commonplace being pregnant the toddlers often wait till a sprint later. a classic being pregnant is seen 38-40 two weeks, so there could must be an particularly good clarification on your wellness practitioner to % to bring about. no longer all docs have an particularly good reason as they have been knowledgeable in the scientific variety, and inductions, soreness meds, and birthing by making use of laying flat on your back in a mattress are seen "usual."

you cant always go by the estimate they give you on weight...at 35 weeks they told me my son was close to 8 pounds, and that was after doing an ultrasound and taking measurements....4 weeks later when he wsa born i was prepared for a 10 lb + baby and he came out 7 lb 9 oz. most doctors wont induce before your due date unless you have a medical reason that makes it a necessity ..and unfortunately your baby being big is not a necessity unless you are very small

Its more likely that the Dr would be OK with 37 or even 38 weeks. But when i went at 36 weeks my baby was 6lbs 11ounces give or take 2 lbs. So I totally understand I am scared to death I'm going to have a 10lb baby. But talk to your Dr about your concerns. Mine just told me to stop worrying about it it would be fine. So hopefully yours is a little more concerned about your comfort level than mine is. Good Luck!!

You can ask however most refuse until you've actually gone over the due date which is 40 weeks for a single birth and 37-38 weeks for multiple births
