For 2 whole numbers m and n if m is less than 20 and n is less than 10, the witch of the following must be true.

A) m + n is greater than 10
B)m-n is greater than 10
C)m-n is less than 10
D)m+n is less than 30
E)m is greater than n

The following prove each other one false:
a) m = 3, n = 2 then it is less than 10.
b) m = 5, n = 4 then it is less than 10.
c) m = 19, n = 2 then it is greater than 10.
e) m = 3, n = 6 then m is less than n.

All of those m is less than 20 and n is less than 10 so d is true.

The only true is d) m+n<30 ... you obtain this adding
m<20
n<10

m+n < 30

The others you can use m=1 and n=1 to prove that each one is not true.

m + n < 20 + 10 = 30

The answer is D.
