i want the sharks. let's stop talking. let's see who's better. i'll shut up if we lose...as long as the sharks play clean...which they have no reason not to.

and then i want the ducks. and then the sabres.

i'll actually acknowledge the sharks, unlike the Preds or Lames. the sharks ARE a good team. but you gotta win 4 rounds to be Stanley Cup champions.

i wanna see some real hockey. Shark fans, if you beat us cleanly, my hats off to you. we'll see.

but some of you have so much animosity, it's almost like a red wing ran over your cat...or whatever pet you have. you guys just LOVE to hate the wings. do i smell fear?

From a Detroit view, would rather play Dallas. Turco has won 1 game out of 15 against the Wings. Dallas would be a much easier opponent for Detroit.

Althought watching Detroit vs. San Jose would a whole lot more entertaining.

Predictions : vs Dallas ---Detroit wins in 5
vs San Jose --- Detroit wins in 7

Detroit would definitely want Dallas next. The Stars have some key injuries, will be tired after a tough 7 game series and don't possess SJ's explosive offense.

The Sharks, on the other hand, are rested, hungry and can match the Wings hit for hit, shot for shot and save for save.

Lastly, a Detroit/Dallas matchup means the other pairing is Anaheim/San Jose, an added benefit should the Wings move on since the latter two will be destroying one another to get to the semis. The Wings would face the potential limping remains of that battle as the only remaining obstacle to the finals.

So, if you're a Detroit fan, you're rootin' hard for the Stars tonight.

Actually, either one could be deadly. The sharks have already proven this year that they can handle Detroit, though I know the playoffs are always different. Meanwhile, if Dallas does win tonight, it may mean that they have finally turrend the playoof corner that they fell behine after they won the Stanley Cup. Turco, except for Game 1, has looked on for the whole series, and is's only due to Dallas' inability to score that they haven't already wrapped this series up. In 6 games, (including the 5-4 Game 1 Overtime fest), Turco is allowing a measly 1.20 GAA, averaging 74:09 minutes per game. Talking out Game 1, Turco has a smoking 0.764 GAA, with 3 shutouts. If Dallas finally remembers how to score, the combination could be deadly for the Red Wings, and the rest of the NHL, for that matter. So I'd say Detroit ought to root for Vancouver, and learn for their lessons against the Sharks this year.

From the Detroit Free Press-

The Sharks are the cream of the crop in the West, and I suspect they’d dispose of the Wings now just like they did during the regular season. The Wings went 1-3 against San Jose, losing both games in San Jose – and badly. One was a 5-1 loss, the other, 9-4. In both cases the Sharks used their speed to force the Wings into taking penalties, and then used their power play to put Detroit away.

If I were a Detroit fan I would much rather see the Wings face off against the Stars in round 2. Dallas much like Vancouver play a defensive game, they would try to shut down early with their defence and goaltending allowing minimal chances at the net and rely on one or two precious goals after shifting the momentum with their defense. So if Detroit were to run and gun most of the game, it would tear Dallas apart. The Sharks have very dominate forces in their lineup and Detroit will have their times worth fending off their offence and physical play.

Edit: Sorry I don't want to edit this just to reply to someone's answer but I just can't agree with that answer.

Apachet (poster below me), the reason why people believe Turco is finally performing in the playoffs is because Vancouver, like Dallas, does not have an offensive force. Turco is facing uneffective offensive lines, Vancouver's top scoring line, the Sedins, have not recorded a point sinse game 1. Turco's stats right now slightly seats him in 2nd for save % and GAA, very slightly better than luongo's, but if you have been watching this series, Turco hasn't really needed to make many phenomenal saves, and because of this same reason is why he has been able to record 3 shutouts. So what I'm trying to say is that the Vancouver Canucks are not a formible team to play to be able to say if Dallas and Turco are finally able going to perform in the playoffs. I'm sure if you throw a team that doesn't rely on just defense and has an offence, they will tear Dallas apart. And that is why Dallas will be the better choice for Detroit. I wouldn't even be surprised if Detroit sweep the series. Of course that is assuming Dallas wins today.

I'm a Sharks fan who would rather see the Sharks play Detroit than Anaheim, so I'm going to suspect most Wings fans would rather see Detroit play Dallas than San Jose. I know I would if I were a Wings fan.

San Jose. Watching Dallas play is like watching the ice melt. Detroit vs San Jose would be a lot more entertaining.

Detriot is far better off playing Dallas. The Sharks are a good team and they will be rested. Dallas is also very good, but after tonight they will have finished a seven game series with all of those overtimes. That's going to wear on them, and the winner of the Van/Dal is going to have a tough time in round two.

In fact, if I were the Ducks I'd rather play the Canucks than the Sharks.

probaly dallas...i'm really impressed with how dallas has played this round, but san jose has had a longer rest. It's just a matter of how that will effect their performance. I think Detroit could probally beat the stars in 6 games while it will probally take 7 for san jose.

Dallas without question. The Wings beat them handily this season (3 of 4) and they've had their number in past playoff years. Also, less travel... and the 2 "scariest" teams left in the west (SJ and Anaheim) get to beat each other up before facing off with the Wings in the Western Conference finals... hope for many multi-OT games and a series that goees the distance there!
