It's the weight of the baby, pressing down against the lower part of the uterus, the cervix, and the bladder.
If it's your first baby, it sometimes means the baby has "dropped," or settled into the pelvic inlet. This can happen any time in the last month, so it doesn't necessarily mean you are going into labor in the next few days.
With second, third, and fourth babies, many women feel pressure for weeks before they go into labor. This is because the pelvic musculature doesn't give quite as much support as it does the first time around, so you feel the weight of the baby sooner, even before it drops.
Good luck!!!

It does mean labour is soon the pressure you are feeling is the baby now in the correct position for birth. However it does not nessaserily mean you will go into labour before the 40 weeks but with any luck you will. Congrats and good luck

I would say that the baby has dropped, putting pressure on your pelvis. You will find that you have to pee even MORE often! You may well go into labor w/in the week. a good sign that labor has started is the loss of your "plug". Congrats!

It just means the baby's head is lower down in your pelvis. The baby has "dropped".

time it. for me, if i walk around the house, my pain (which was my contrations) were closer together than when I won't sit and relax. but the contrations would be either on your lower stomach and lower back, or just your stomach, or in your theighs.
