Baby showers are a joy to plan. For decorations, if the famil knows the sex of the baby, you can find very cute blue or pink decorations at the party supply store. Or try finding things that may match with the theme of the nursery if the parents have already picked it out. Balloons are good for baby showers and easy fun center pieces can be given away as favors or prizes. A lot of people will find bottles or some sort of container and put in colorful candies that you can find in the shape of bottles, rattles, ect. If you do a floral arrangement, keep it simple and add small touches like pacifiers or rattles so it doesn't end up looking like a wedding center piece. Hang streamers and banners in the color theme and it looks great.
For games, those are endless.....I was just at my sister in law's baby shower and they played a game I've never heard of that was fun. On a long piece of string, hang clothes pins, the object of the game is to use one hand and one hand only to remove as many pins as possible. If they use their other hand or touch any other things or body part to help them, they lose. Or there is the diaper game, get 10-12 different types of candy bars and smash them in diapers to look like poop. Have the women sniff them to guess what candy bar it is. For easy games to win prizes, there is always the don't cross your leg game where each woman is given a pin or necklace and if caught crossing the legs, you can take it away and the one with the most wins. There's also games where the women answer questions on things like name that lullaby, or list different animals and what their young is called, like Kangaroos have joeys, birds have fledglings, and so forth. Look online, there are a ton of suggestions there as well.
For food, keep it light and simple. Sandwiches, salads, drinks (no alcohol) and chips and dip usually are cheap and everyone likes it.
Good luck and have fun!

Here's my favorite idea for a baby shower - a diaper cake! They are gorgeous centerpieces, everyone just crowds around and oohs and aahs when I bring one of these diaper cakes to a shower. You can use them to play a guessing game (how many diapers and what supplies are hidden inside the cake,) and when the baby shower is over, your sister can take the diaper cake home as your gift to her. These cakes are designed to be used, so every diaper and all the supplies can be used for the baby!
So much more practical than flowers or paper centerpieces which just end up in the trash - every new mom needs diapers and this is such a creative way to give them. Plus it adds so much atmosphere to the baby shower. And I think the best reason to give a diaper cake is that it will be a very memorable element of your sister's baby shower. In a year, she won't remember who gave her onesies, but she will remember the diaper cake for life.
Have a look! Happy baby shower planning, I'm sure it will be a great success!!

fill a bowl with rice, add some small safety pins. Blindfold guests and give each 30 seconds to find the pins, whoever finds the most wins.
Give each guest a clothes pin when they enter. Anytime somebody crosses their legs the first person who catches them gets the clothes pin. Person with the most clothes pins at the end wins. The game ends at a designated time, or after one person has all the clothes pins.
Using toilet paper have each guest unroll as much as they think it will take to go around the waist of the expectant mommy.
Guess the "poopy"-Squish candy bars in diapers and have the guests guess what they are. (Variant use baby food instead of candy bars)
How many words can you get out of BABY SHOWER
Word scramble with baby words
Great tie breaker-Make those that are tied race to drink 8oz of punch out of a baby bottle.
My favorite activity at a baby shower is.......
Use a white table cloth (disposable or inexpensive cloth) and put permanent markers on the table. Each guest writes a personal note to the Mommy or baby and/or draws a picture. Write the date of the shower on it and present it to the mommy.

Here are 2 really fun games. We did it with the guys who went to the baby shower but if it's only girls that will work too. We filled little 4 oz baby bottles with apple juice and made a race to see which guy could down all the juice first. It was hilarious watching my dad and my grandpa and all my uncles drink apple juice from a bottle! MAKE SURE TO BRING A CAMCORDER!
Here's another...get some fabric squares and have everyone decorate one with permanent marker (and write their name on it, too), then have someone sew them all together and make a baby quilt out of them! VERY nice sentimental gift and mom-to-be will love it!

I played a fun game that required everyone to stand in a circle and listen to someone read a story. The story used the words left and right. Several people in the circle held wrapped baby shower prizes. Every time the reader said "left" or "right" in the story, we had to pass the gift to either the person on the right or to the left of us. At the end of the story, the person holding the gift is the winner.
Here is the story below:
Left Right Game ~ This game is a pretty popular baby shower game idea (I keep getting requests for it.)
Have guests sit in a circle and hand one of the guests a wrapped present. Don't let her open it yet. Begin telling the following story (each time you say the word LEFT they have to pass it to the person on their left. Each time you say RIGHT pass it to the right.) The guest left holding the gift at the end of the story is the winner!
Mrs. Right was on her way to a baby shower. She accidentally took a Right instead of a Left and got lost. Mrs. Right Left her house at 12:45 and arrived Right on time at 1:00. But Mrs. Right Left her gift at home! She was not in her Right mind today. Mrs. Right left the shower and went back home. The gift was on the table, Right where she had Left it! Mrs. Right Left her house and went Right back to the shower. When she arrived there wasn't any food Left! Mrs. Right was so hungry that she Left the shower, got Right back into her car and drove to the Right Left Right Doo-Wop Diner! Mrs. Right ordered the Sunday Special and ate it Right up until there was nothing Left!

GUESS THE FLAVOR: Take the labels off the baby food jars and have every one try to guess the flavor. Dont forget to use the peas, they are kind of unappealing. GUESS THE CANDY BAR: Melt a candy bar in place it in the center of a clean open diaper. Whoever can guess the most correctly wins. Its fun to see how many people want to poke at it and smell it, Try these candy bars: Almond Joy, Take 5, Hershey's Cookies and Cream, Whatchamacalit, Kit Kat, Twix, Peppermint Patty, Mounds, Symphony with fruit, and Snickers.
