Judging from the number of times they were asked, you would think it would be either:
What came first, the chicken or the egg? (Answerable)
Why is the sky blue? (Answerable)
Did we really go to the moon? (Answerable, even if they don't believe it)
Can a (insert sign here) ever really love a (insert sign here)? (Unanswerable)
However, the best one I have ever seen was:
What would happen if someone tossed you a neutron star the size of a baseball?
It not only required me to think, but also to make new spreadsheet to calculate the gravational forces involved. I also had to explain about tidal forces (the difference on the gravational forces between your head and your feet as you were being pulled toward the "baseball") and, give a brief comparision to black holes (while not technically a black hole, it does display some of the characteristics of one).
Of course, that was before the Alien enounters, and moon hoax nuts took over the astronomy section and chased me over here.
