I'm not a Christian, but I'm all for building shrines for the Gods and Goddesses, just as you describe. They are wonderful and you can add fresh flowers, or a bowl of fresh water everyday, as well as the incense as a gift. (notice I didn't say offering)

Oh yes. What a wonderful idea. My church would say it was "evil" but I dont agree with them. Its really just a sort of compacted temple isnt it? I wouldnt make one outside. Id make it in my house, or at least sheltered in a gazebo or something. To be a good shrine it needs some holy relic, but thats probably herd to track down... at least holy water or a crucifix or something. I also think it would be good to have a multi-religious shrine. Then anyone could pray to who/whatever they want. Atheists could even set up a shrine to scientific enlightenment or somthing (not joking) so they were included.

Yeah - Id do that if I had funds.

Those who control the place of worship controls money and power of whatever the flock brings forth.

There is more of any God or Goddess in a single drop of morning dew than there is in any edifice built by humans.
