You can start a provisional patent without hiring an attorney. In fact you can have done in about 48 hours for about $300. The company provides very professional services and was started by Robert Shapiro. Its worth checking out.

Nah, just go to the patents office, ask for a form, and fill in all the blank spaces. Plagiarism is alive and well!
