Get always ultra thin pads. I've being using it for close to 8 yrs.You will have to note the take to change the pads because it can give a horrible day.if you change frequently, you are good to go.
You should be extra cautious of clothes you wear during your periods, bad fitting of the pad in your panty can cause side leakages. Good luck girl.

Trust me, I had the same problem, and it isn't fun. If you're allowed to wear skirts at your studio, try wearing a pair of tight, short dance shorts under your skirt. I know my studio has a very strict dress code, but a skirt covers up the shorts. This gives an extra layer of protection that can't be seen. Also, some dance stores and catalogues sell nude panty type things that can go beneath leotards; pads stay on these WAY better than on leotards and tights, and they're very discreet. Also, they stop leaks and put yet another layer between you and the world. Try for tampons though, really do. You'll never go back once you do; for dancing, they are the best thing, far past sliced bread! Good luck, have fun (pht...right.), and eat lots of chocolate!!! :)

i'm a dancer, and i've had my period for almost 2 years, and still can't really wear tampons!! (i mean when i swim and stuff i do, but i can't dance in them!!) so, i just wear soffes or something over my leotard, or a beige leotard underneath my regular leotard. (i had my period for recital last year, and that's what i did). it's kinda uncomfortable, but it's ok, and i doubt anyone will notice unless you're like gushing blood or something. lol. periods suck, but they make us able to have cute, adorable little babies when we're older!! lol. good luck!!

My couzin is a ballet dancer and all the time she wears
these tight black a-little-higher then the ankles pants.
You can totally wear those!
they should have them at ballet stores.
So just wear a pad and then the leotard and then put the pants on! And it looks better then just a leotard if you ask me!
-hoped to help!

They make leotards with little shorts, or just simply wear shorts over your leotard. Good luck!
