Are you involved in any charity work? would you like to be involved in one?
would you rather donate your time or your money? and why?

me: I would love to do some volunteering, but the truth is I'm so busy that I don't have time to do anything else. Instead I donate a small amount of money to an orgonazation.

when I say money, I don't mean a lot of money. just a small amount that you give each month. Like 5£ a month.

I donate a greater value in time than in money, partly because it fits well into my life, but also because it gives me an opportunity to see what exactly I am contributing TO. If you are there participating, you see what you are supporting.

It is also just plain fun (and somewhat educational) to meet new people you would otherwise never run across. People from other lines of work, people of different educational and economic background, people from other faiths or even other countries, all give you a more balanced perspective on the world we live in, and a thirst for a more equitable world... And isn't that what contribution and volunteering is all about?

I volunteer all the time. In fact, in a week, I spend more time volunteering than I do working. I'm a Scout Troop Leader, I volunteer at my city's humane society, I do what city workers are paid to do in parks and other areas all throughout my city. Just recently, a Church I don't even go to needed some people to clean it all up inside and out for a big Bishop visit. I spent a month working my tail off making that place look perfect. Never even asked for a dime.

I am not regularly helping out at any one thing right now, although I do do a fair bit of volunteer work when needed. Other than that, I tithe to my church, which helps people all over the world, and give beyond that to other good causes. I really like to make Christmas boxes to send to needy kids abroad in November. I made 6 with my family last year, and a giant teacher's kit! I also helped my class collect a few hundred toys for poor kids in the community at Christmas time. It felt so great!

I work full time an avg of 64 hrs a week. I volunteer for the local ambulance at least 12 hrs a week, I "sit" with my elderly grandparents every week, I visit my next door neighbor (who has Alzheimer's) everyday, and I still have time to have a cold beer now and again......you ALWAYS have time to take care of what's important in your life!

I also donate money to Pennsylvania State Police, the National Republican Committee, and MSF (multiple sclerosis foundation).

I raise money for the Macmillan nurses by earning points on here, every time I get a thousand points my family and friends give me money which usually adds up to about a hundred pound and so far I've raised well over £5,000 but with giving up ciggies too, they were brilliant to my mom when she was dying of breast cancer and to us too and I just want to do something for other women and men who's life is touched by cancer.

I prefer to donate my time, but I find so many charities put restrictions around it..you have to donate 8 hours a week, and one day has to be on a week day (excuse me? I work full time thanks), and so on and so forth.

So, I donate bags of dog/cat food to the local no-kill shelter, for example.

I donate weekly at mass...and volunteer when something is needed. But I do not allow them to call me all the time...it can become a habit for them if you don't put a limit.

I usually donate money (or items - like my car) because I don't have a lot of free time.

when I was a "big shot"...I donated money and thought I was doing something special....a visit to a battered woman's shelter and seeing those women and kids with nothing but their lives...which they were lucky to have...turned me around...now I give my time and myself and money when I can.....
