Her's an email I've just received:

Dear friend,
My name is John Land. I'm proud to serve as the Democratic Leader in the State Senate of South Carolina. I want to talk to you about how, you, I and John Edwards are going to revitalize rural America and change the political map.

You know how it goes: every year, Republicans pump in millions of dollars to push hot-button issues to frighten and divide rural voters, while the real problems we face go totally unaddressed. And those problems are only getting worse—jobs fleeing overseas, thriving communities reduced to ghost towns, and local farmers finding it harder and harder just to make ends meet.

I support John Edwards because he's the first national candidate in years who really takes rural America seriously—and he's got a solid, bold plan to help turn things around. I know John speaks from the heart about the issues that affect my community—because this is his community too. He grew up here, and people in places like South Carolina will listen to someone who actually understands what life here is all about.

So what can we do to change the map? We can help John's campaign spread the word. I know that when rural voters learn about who John is and what he would actually do, even the reddest counties will start to turn blue. That's why I just donated $100 bucks to help fund John's outreach to rural voters. Now, I'm asking you to join me by chipping in whatever you can afford at:

Last week John launched his national rural outreach effort right here in SC. He was greeted by overflow crowds in small rural diners, many of whom drove great distances to finally have a conversation with a national leader who is ready to fight for the rural way of life.

You can read John's full plan on the website, but here's the highlights of what the plan would do:
· Restore economic fairness to rural America by helping small businesses thrive and grow.
· Create a new energy economy in rural America by establishing the New Energy Economy Fund to jumpstart renewable energies.
· Create fairness for family farmers by supporting strong antitrust enforcement, capping farm subsidies for corporate farms and other reforms.
· Strengthen rural schools by improving pay for teachers in rural and other hard-to-staff schools.
· Improve health care in rural America by rewriting the unfair Medicare and Medicaid funding formulas, covering the 9 million uninsured rural Americans and establishing a nationwide network of public clinics and hospitals.
· Rid rural America of methamphetamines by improving enforcement, restricting key ingredients and expanding programs that successfully treat addicts.
We've seen too many elections where Republicans dominate rural states only to let rural people down. In John Edwards, we have a candidate and a plan that will finally end that cycle and change politics in America forever—but only if we all help out.

Like I said, I just kicked in $100 to help John's campaign get their message to rural voters, and I really hope you'll join me. Please pitch in what you can today, at:

Thanks for standing with rural America, and thanks for changing the map.

Sincerely,

--John Land

P.S. If you chip in $50 or more, you'll receive a free advance copy of the not-yet-released CD "Moneyland". "Moneyland" tells the story of the plight of rural America, through a collection of recordings, both old and new, from legendary country and bluegrass recording artists, including: The Del McCoury Band, Merle Haggard, Welch, Marty Stuart, Emmylou Harris, Bruce Hornsby & the Fairfield Four, Mac Wiseman, Patty Loveless, and more.

Thanks for posting all of this information. I think I'll start looking at John Edward's campaign closer now. I was for Obama, but Edwards looks pretty good. Thanks!

I do not like Hillary both however right now it sort of feels that she is good forward of Edwards and I don't consider that Edwards has the force or institution to tug forward of Hillary. She has the cash and the institution to win the Democratic nominee price tag. Too unhealthy. I am comfortable regardless that that it does not seem like Obama may have a threat. This could be very severe for the USA if he will get the Democratic nod. Edwards is a first-rate deal higher than both of them.

John is way behind in the polls right now. The real contender is Mr. Obama. John has a lot of ground to make up in order to ba a viable candidate in this election, and he has the additional burden of his wife's health to worry about. I wish him the best, but he is going to have to change directions in the polls pretty quick if he wants a real shot. by the way, Mr. Obama is getting the kind of grass roots support that Mr. Edwards is asking for. He is keeping up with Mrs. Clinton and most of his contributors have given small enough amounts that they can be asked again if the need should arise. this wasn't a bad idea, just a little late in the game.

Why I support him -

- John Edwards is the only one so far to propose a universal health care plan (his experiences with his wife have made this a priority for him; he doesn't want anyone to have to go through what they've been through and have to worry about the bills on top of it)
- he advocates a full withdrawal from Iraq (Hillary and Obama want to leave "support" behind)
- his rural renewal project is straight out of the New Deal
- he's already helped to get the minimum wage increased in seven states, and a living wage for everyone is one of his top priorities
- he's engaged in Darfur
- and he's got a strong energy plan.

With the first debate this Thursday, I'm confident the rest of the world will become as excited about him as I am.

If we live in two Americas like he says, then I sure want to be in his America of overpriviledged brats that try to tell us working stiffs that we should have higher taxes and have big government tell us how to live. If Edwards wins, I think I'll go go to a hairstyling academy so I at least have something after he's done taxing me. Under his system I might even be able to keep about $15 off a $400 haircut.

Nope...Sorry. The rest of us don't live in LaLa land of $400 haircuts and multi million dollar mansions surrounded by security guards.
If you're from South Carolina you have a large percentage of folks living at or near the poverty line. Edwards is an elitist politician with a smooth line of B.S.
We're poor but we're not all stupid!
The man is a goofy pretender, all talk and no substance!
Find yourself a real candidate!

It seems highly unlikely he would be able to win out over Hillary. I would be all for adding him to the mix, he is admired by many Americans. A big hurdle would be obtaining admiration and trust from world leaders, one of Hillary's greatest strengths.
