I'm in search of a new PC so please advise for my best choice.

What is the difference between:
Intel Celebron D 360
Intel Pentium 4 HT
AMD Athlon 64 3500+
Intel Pentium D 820

My 7 yr old computer is a Gateway Pentium 4 but since I upgraded to Win XP Profesional its really slow due to the memory. Since mine use a very expensive memory then I rather buy a new one with the new Win Vista.

I will only be using this new PC for basic needs like burning CD's, DVD's and surfing the web. My son will use it for some web games. Since I come from a pentium 4 and never really used it to the max do I really need another pentium? For my needs what pc would you remcomend and why?
Thanks for your advise!

P.S. I went to my local frys store and the rep could not help me with this questions (it seemed like I new more than him) so I decided to take a shot here.

The Athlon 64 3500+ is your best bet out of those four, but honestly, I wouldn't buy any of those. They are mostly outdated technologies. If you are building your own, personally, I'd reccomend the following:

Athlon X2 3800+

Hope I helped a bit.

desktops could be plenty much less friendly to the universal participant. while new technologies comes laptop vendors will the two would desire to shell out money for a sparkling laptop which could safeguard the recent tech or like maximum would do, they'd bypass the extra on your funds direction and regulate their desktops with the recent areas. With console gaming human beings will purchase the recent consoles generally by way of fact they'd be extra gentle enjoying video games this type and it would not require any modding expertise. Consoles are plug and play. some would additionally be much less gentle having to play so heavily to a show screen such as you will with a laptop. console video games are on TVs and so as that they are able to play farther away and be extra gentle.

I could probably help you find a good one, but I would need to ask you a few more questions about certain parts. Send me an email if you are interested (from my profile) and I will try to help you out, I have done this several times before on here.
