I have sensitive, combination skin that is prone to break outs. I had a series of 4 microdermabrasion facials at a salon & was pleased w/ the results. My skin was a bit smoother and clearer.

However, since you have mild to moderate acne, you may want to see a dermatologist first because mechanical exfoliation can aggravate acne. Also, you should avoid micredermabrasion if you use Retin-A, Differin, etc.

Since microdermabrasion removes the top layer of dead skin cells, the skin is more prone to sun damage & wearing SPF is crucial.

Hi,
I am 32, my skin is a bit oily, I have acne scars and enlarged. I took a full 10 session series in a beauty center. Now I do the maintenance with different at-home kits and a professional microderma once every 3 months.
I am pretty happy with what it did for my face (anyway, I was to scared to try dermabrasion or laser, so this was the only option to make my skin look better). My scars and line around the mouth have faded significantly, my pores are a bit smaller and the overall appearance is brighter and smoother (my colleagues at works say I look a few years younger).
Before the procedure you have to stop waxing, shaving and using chemical peel products. In the day of the procedure, your face will be cleaned with special cleansing lotions. It doesn't hurt at all (all you will feel is a warm tingling sensation when the crystals touch your skin). After the procedure, the skin is left red and hot for a few hours. I went straight back to work and my boss asked me if I went on the beach that weekend.
I had to use sunscreen every time I went out for 2 weeks and to avoid sun exposure for 3 months.
The first results were obvious the next day after the treatment. My face looked fresher (like it did in the mornings, when I was 22) and felt a lot smoother.
After the entire series (10 treatments), the final results were visible: reduces scars and wrinkles, smaller pores.
I paid around $900 for the entire treatment.
Hope this helps.
