No, I work with people on the Autism Spectrum, so I'm actually an expert on this one. There is a genetic pre-disposition that is triggered more often now than 40 years ago, but still is genetic in its origin.

However, the rise in the popularity of Fox News may be related to the increase in people with Autism. Since they are more factual and concrete than the neuro-typical person, it makes sense that they would watch Fox.

Nice example, even if in jest, of how far-reaching the explanations will go when the facts don't support one's ideology.

ADD: To Truth B. - the study to which there is a link in TV viewing is tied to the increased incidence of ADD, not Autism.

I would more closely link it with the FDA and the AMA's embrace of the "Pill for every symptom" policies. Drugs are not necessarily the end all be all of medicine. And, yet, we allow them to just pharmaceutically manipulate our genetic heritage, til one day we will be rendered impotent, and will become extinct, as a result. Lovely, isn't it? The people who attempt to debunk Global Warming will be the first to step up and decry what I have to say on this, I'm sure.

No, I understand there is a link between higher autism rates and kids who watch hours of TV from an early age on. (And I doubt kids are watching Fox news).

Are you implying that Hannity, Papa bear and Deuce are not the greatest warriors ever? I forgot to mention the brown haired guy at the friendly Fox friends who is NOT Steve Deucy! I can't find the necessary words...

That's pretty low-rent. I have a friend with an autistic son and I am sure she wouldn't appreciate your idea of a "joke".
