Even at the start of the 20th century, American democracy was still incredibly corrupt with all the political bosses and bribery. We didn't get it right for a while.

If people are willing to compromise, they can. America still is not a mature democracy though, so don't think to export your brand of democracy to world. Leave that job to the Prez in collusion with ExxonMobil.

Any country can handle it as long as it is brought about by that country and is modified to fit that countries needs democracy cannot be forced upon another nation it just doesn't work that way in some regions it will take more time to get a democracy up and running due to the culture that is already there

Most people probably can, the problem is that many other worldviews which for some reason are popular (despite being wrong) are incompatible with democracy and if a country consists of a lot of people who hold those worldviews strongly then any democracy can come crashing down or just end up as a way for an autocracy to enter power and destroy the democracy.

NO!! Democracy does not work for everyone. Government can be seen like a religion. Islam does not work for everyone and there for democracy cannot. Take China for an example: How would you represent all of those people with all those individual ideas. The USA is not a democracy it is a Democratic Republic.

Only small countries like Sweden let us say. Anything larger than France and you only get democracy on a local level. As for underdeveloped nations, yes,in fact they can end up doing better than we are. Democracy in America has essentially collapsed except on municipal and county levels, maybe state, certainly not federal.

American democracy may not be perfect....but it's been
going for well over two centurys....if it wasn't worth it, we
wouldn't have to build fences to keep people out! A lot
of countries which want democracy are denied because
of ruthless oppressors....but eventually, the opressor has to give in...it's human nature to seek freedom.

We still haven't got it right.
The two major parties are one Aristocracy.
No matter which way you vote you loose.
Last Presidential Election you had a choice of which inbred, imbecile Yale, Frat Boy you wanted to bleed you. The one before was no better.
If the Choice is Republican or Democrat, thats no choice.
