That's a fantastic project you found! Yes, it is possible to build something like this, but it will require top notch craftsmanship to ensure that it is strong enough yet doesn't look clunky. If you have wild rattan in your area then you have a chance. Regular tree branches or bamboo will not give you the look you are going for.

Not if it is a kids playhouse. I would check with your homeowners insurance though about what your liabilities are as far as the neighbor kids. Things like this are considered an "enticement" and even though someone may be trespassing, you will be held liable for someone getting hurt. Same goes for a swimming pool. been there, done that.

No you don't .... but I would ask your neighbours if it's ok with them.
Our next door neighbour built a tree-house which looked into our spare bedroom and into the hallway.
Thank goodness the trees have now grown ... and "we" can't see it anymore.
