Hm, well, I definitely feel a lot of emotions in my dream also, and sometimes the dream can seem so real, that I'll even 'remember' physical things that have happened to me. When I get touched in my dream, such as a pat on the arm or something, I can actually feel it as I wake up. I think the brain is very powerful, and I think dreams mean more sometimes than what we give them credit for. Not all of them, of course :P, but a lot of the times, there is hidden meaning behind them, and we won't figure it out until it hits us out of the blue.

Anyways, I do believe (sometimes) that our brain responds the same way when we're dreaming. Because I can see myself feeling the same way if the event in the dream was real.

Okay, in light of your edit, if you feel fear in the dream, you're more than likely to feel the same way as if you're awake. When I experience fear in a dream, my adrenaline jumps up and my heart rate increases. Even upon waking up, my heart will still be racing and my mind will be wide awake and frightened of the occurance, but the fear will diminish as soon as I realize that it was a dream.
I hope this helps a little...

Yes, your reactions will differ during waking moments than they will in sleep moments, your brain is in a different function mode during sleep than it is when awake.

You dream when your brain is semi-active / active, and you have rapid eye movement (REM). its still active, so you should have a feeling to the dream.

Your brain speeds up in your sleep and your emotions magnify.
