A President should just have to be elected through due process (or assume the office through the order of succession) as outlined in the Constitution.

I'm not sure if an intelligence test would be most appropriate, but a test of psychological fitness should be necessary...being a president is very stressful and we need to ensure that the president will be able to emotionally and physically endure this constant pressure for his term in office.

no, if the voters want to elect an idiot that is their choice, we are supposed to have a democratic form of government, when you start determining who can and can not be elected for arbitrary reasons you are on a slippery slope, the voters should be the ultimate authority as to whom gets elected

if the voters don't like a particular candidate, then just don't vote for them, that's how a democracy works

They already do. It is known as a high school diploma, college degree and credible political experience.

The current president presumably has all three but, the only caveat being, "credible" political experience.

absolutely!! I've been saying this for years! we need to make sure that presidential candidates are mentally competent...

I'm sorry but someone with below average intelligence should not be able to lead the most powerful nation on earth.

Yes and mri to make sure there is a brain in their head, and they need a conscience but wait if they did they wouldn't be a politician in the first place. while we are at it if they impeach bush then are we stuck with Cheney?

No, but voters should. Well they used to, then the SCOTUS decided that llowing stupid people to vote would help the democrats.
