We actually cant use living things but related to them!

1. If you want to study something about people, you could study the effects of exercise on breathing rate or on the rate at which your heart beats. You could could how many times you breathe in a minute. Then jump up and down for a minute and then count how many times you breathe in a minute after you quite jumping. Do the same test with some of your friends are relatives to have more data.

2. If you want to study something about wildlife, you could observe what kinds of birds come to a feeder when you use different kinds of food. Or you could put out birdseed and observe how the birds interact: which ones chase the others away, which ones stay to eat the seed, which ones grab seed and carry it away to eat it somewhere else, ...

Try to design your experiment so you have something that you measure or count. That lets you put a data table in your report and gives you data to make a graph. Data and graphs are always good for science experiments.
