I once saw somewhere a website where people could post their personal situation's and ask other people to send them money. Sorta a personal charity. Does anyone know of a website like this? I'm curious to see what kinds of things people try to get money for.

I've really only heard of two sites sort of similar to what you're talking about. There was the famous givekarenadollar.com, where this girl named Karen started a Web site asking people to send her $1 to help her dig her way out of credit card debt. (She admitted that most of the debt had been incurred through frivolous shopping sprees.) She also used the site to sell her personal items and offer her services for various odd jobs to raise extra cash. She ended up raising about $33,000, if I'm remembering this correctly, and was on all kinds of talk shows.

There is also prosper.com. That is not a charity thing, but people loaning money to each other instead of owing credit cards and banks. I've seen people on there looking for loans to complete home renovations, and some who just have high-interest credit card debt.
