It CAN kill you. Lightning is very powerful - tens of thousands of volts.

Not a lot of people survive being hit by lightning directly, but some do survive, and some even survive relatively intact.

Lightning can of course kill you, but actually I think you have a better chance of surviving.

But...

Most people who are hit by lightning become permanently disabled. Some symptoms include brain problems and chronic pain. Due to the brain issues, most people are not the same person afterward. They cannot perform well at their jobs and everyday mental tasks tire them because they are using different parts of their brain since some have been damaged.

Moral of the story...follow lightning safety procedures whenever there is lightning in the area.

Lightning is the number 2 killer related to storms (after flooding).

Not really it depends how you are hit, because I know this one boy that was hit by lightning and he didn't die.

Well people jave survived lightning so it is not guentired that you will die.

i saw this documentary once and the guy got hit by lightning and afterwards he never felt cold again....ever

The odds of surviving are very low.

There are very few who survive a lightining hit -- but it does happen. The vast majority of those 'hit', die.
