Stonewall led from the front and paid for it with his life. Night battles are more confusing and it is doubtful a greater victory would've been achieved.

One of the great 'ifs' of history in the USA. But, if he had continued the attack then he would not have died and Lee would have kept his right arm and Jackson his left. It is tough to say this one, because night fights are confusing and you can't just say if A then B. Because there is no A without seven other issues as well ... if they had continued their attack, if they had stayed organized, if the Army of the Potomac had kept running and had not stopped to mount a defense, if Hooker had not been knocked senseless when the cannon ball hit the column he was leaning on ...

Regardless, the Confederacy would have lost because A - they had fewer people; B - they had less industry and C - they were losing too much too fast and didn't have the political leadership
