Some are, some aren't. Just like everywhere else.

Opposing to most answers here that there are only some like everywhere else in the world, I have to say that countries such as Germany and America are more exposed to racism. It is not because the people from those countries are naturally racist, but because racism has diluted in their culture throughout history. Most people who say there are racists in all the world have obviously never been involved with another culture (even if they have traveled out of their home country). There are many non-European cultures where the color of skin is no different than the color of hair. So therefore you can dislike a girl because she is too dark or too light skinned and no one will point fingers at you calling you a racist. I think we should start integrating that idea in Western nations, since political correctness is killing us. We should all be called people and each have a different skin tone (not color). There should be no divisions among Blacks, Whites, Hispanics, Asians, etc.. But anyway, that's just a dream. Like I said, it's hard to remove the sh!t that has diluted in our culture.

Yes and no. It is the same anywhere.

I have lived all over the world.

I found skinheads to be worse in Belgium, but I can turn (grudgingly) into a violent American and skinheads everywhere soon learned not to bother me.

I also have many Russian friends. There are Russian communities everywhere and they have a "bad element" too, just like every other group of people. I went to them for protection when the going got tough.

Most of the people they bother are immigrants from African or Caribbean nations. They unfortunately, are much more timid than we of the American part of the diaspora.

Are you are aware of bad places here in America where there is Klan, militia, skinheads? Well, think of it that way.

There are places in Germany, Canada, England, France, etc where they are really bad and you are probably fine where you will go in Germany.

In the past (thank you Helmut Kohl for your service) if you even SAW a skinhead in Germany, all you had to do was tell a German and they would go crazy trying to find him. The country was trying to get away from the past association of them. This is still true in the tourist and commercial areas.

The last time I was in Germany was 1997. I do not believe in guns for people outside of law enforcement and military, but if you are going to be in a dangerous area, you may want to get special permits to carry one there.

Near the military areas you will be safe too.

As for whether or not Germans are racist, they are "ethnocentric", the way most people are. In other words, "my folk are best".

I found them to be mostly open minded. They are not the most polite people, but that is not out of racism, but just a mentality to "get things done".

Remember, there are kind and open people everywhere. Remain kind and open and you will draw them to you.

The answer to your question is no. But then again if you generalize like that it's doubtful to ever come true. While some Germans maybe Racist, so are some Americans. However not all of either or any race are racist.

Are the Germans racists? No. Though I am certain some Germans are racist, not all of them are and it is unfair to lump them all together like that. There is racism in every country. There is racism in every race. But just because someone is white, or black, or German or Spanish, does not make them a racist.

Blacks are killed in some parts of the USA too, and also in Africa by other blacks.

My point is, there are undoubtedly racists in Germany, but all Germans are not racists.

Considering the history of the country and the few German people I've met, I'd think they'd be the least racist.

Germans, being one myself, are generally not racist. However, there have been problems with neo-nazis and skin heads. You can find some info about these groups on wikipedia if you are that interested.

Wow, what a generalization! Why don't we just say all Germans are Jew killers! You can't group ANY race like that, there are goods and bads in every race, creed, color. I hope you don't have kids yet because you have a lot of growing up to do.

There is some trouble with neo-nazis, particularly in the depressed areas of the foremer GDR. The problem is no worse than many other parts of Europe.

Hello? It is racist to assign a label (such as "racist") to a group of people because of their race/nationality.

Do you think that everyone who lives in the same country have the same values and beliefs?
