In the early '70s the Government decided to sell off the remaining Carson City minted Morgan dollars that it had stored in the mint. The General Services Administration (GSA) packaged them in plastic holders that said "Carson City Uncirculated silver dollar" and sold them to the public. They sell for a premium today . Does anyone know what they cost back in the early '70s when the government sold them?

Good question, but I don't know, or I should say don't remember, most people are interested in what they sell for now. You can go and email answerman2@aol.com he has a column in Numismatic News a coin magazine, where he answers questions. I bet he can find out for you.
