Great idea. Ops, guess haliburton and others would rather give $100,000 salaries to their buddies from the US than help a 40% unemployment problem in Iraq.

I think we should give it to the companies that makes the most sense. Cost efficient and ability to do the job.

Giving it to an Iraqi company for the sake of giving it to an Iraqi company makes no sense. It could cost a lot more money if they have to obtain equipment or expertise from overseas or fail to complete the work on time.

Any company that does work in Iraq would still have to employ locals and create more jobs.

Would you employ someone to work in your home just because he is of the same race or because he is right for the job?

What I am saying is let the best person for the job do it. One that will cost the government less money. If an Iraqi company is right for the job, we should give it to them, otherwise, get someone else.

Absolutely. We can start now. Cancel Hallibutons (or whatever name they are going by) no bid contract and give them 90 days to be out of the country. The Iraqis proved they are sick and tired of the 'help' America is giving them when they stopped US forces from building a wall.
Like cheney would ever go for that.

1. What companies?
2. "They're having a hard time hiring Iraqi police to protect themselves." That is a bold face lie. Even in the Sunni areas recruiting is soaring.

Yes. If the Iraqis had jobs, they wouldn't have so much time on their hands to attack our troops and each other. The unemployment rate has been as high as 70% since the invasion.
