in a 4-1 game, where the game is over with 5 mins left, they try to run up the score and then cry when they get hit???

go watch basketball then.

get it out of your system all of you Lames and Avs fans. and everyone else who is jealous of the wings' successes. just rename the question, "i'm mad at detroit fans cuz they have a better and classier team than mine, and i wanna whine so i'm gonna make it sound like wings fan whine". congrats on being a hypocrite....whiner.

lemieux got jumped (and he gave the word "turtle-d" a whole new meaning when he finally had the chance to fight McCarty 1-on-1...when the opponent was actually READY to fight, unlike his "hit"/classless move on Draper) because of what he did to Draper.

i don't know what Pee-Wee leagues you've been watching, but in the playoffs, you don't let up and give the other team a reason to get momentum by giving them a goal. you'd know that if your team ever got out of the 1st round. but you'll have a lot of time checking out the draft trying to find some REAL players.

you guys who talk about running up the score are a bunch of HYPOCRITES!!! where were you when the rangers smoked Atlanta, 7-0? suddenly that is ok, cuz you don't feel threatened by NYR. but the wings.....you're sick and tired of being dominated the past decade by the wings. sure, you may win a series or two, but most of you don't even know how to spell Stanley Cup. besides, you know that the biggest threat to win it all again is the wings...if they get going on their game. everyone knows the west is the harder conference. and we had the highest pt total. and don't even start w/ that crap about chicago and columbus. the only elite team that we had a losing record w/ was SJ...1-3. wow. where are all you hypocrites who say "throw out the regular season records". you can't have it both ways, crybabies.

join the club of whiners who are bitter that the wings continue to succeed thru a classy organization while you armchair quarterbacks try to steal the spotlight by coming up w/ conspiracy theories. what else are you gonna do while your team is playing golf?

First of all...the Twins are constructing a brand new outside stadium, NOT the Vikings. While the Twins might be relocating, the Vikings might be staying placed within the dome. Secondly, fanatics and gamers had no say while the Metrodome used to be developed. If you desire to label any one as sissies, it used to be dimwitted non-soccer fan businessmen pulling the strings at the back of that idiotic resolution. The Twins and Vikings each performed outdoor at Metropolitan Stadium years in the past. It used to be a baseball park that doubled as a awful soccer stadium. Now each groups play within the dome, a soccer stadium that doubles a awful baseball park. At least the Twins gets out of that h#llhole in 2010.

Try to run up the score?!!!

What did you want them to do? Pass the puck around and embarrass the Flames even more....

Then you would have been *****!ng about that, I don't know about you but the intent of a hockey game is scoring goals, and if you are a real fan of the game you also know that a team can score 4 goals in 5 minutes, so it was possible for the Flames to rebound and at least send it to over time.....And its not us "SISSY" fans fault that the Wings have class and poise, and the ability to stay clean.

And the incident with Lemieux was totally different, he was attacked because of his actions towards Draper, what did Franzen do to McLennan? Nothing.

So please just think before you ask stupid questions....
Have a good day

this is completely a matter of who you ask kind of thing.

i agree with the suspensions, they were harsh enough, and detroit fans need to get over it. 5 games is a lot considering we are talking about a brain dead league where hits from behind happen every game and it is a 2 min penalty. (a rant for another day)

suspending iginla would have been retarded though. like you mentioned, if you are going to suspend iginla, by that logic, everybody from the late 90s detroit team should be labeled as goons, and we would never have scrums.

i also agree detroit showed no class trying to run up the score. 4-1 with like 4 minutes left, vs an avg offensive team like calgary, and a defensive powerhouse like detroit. The argument that leads collapse is a load of crap. This was not buffalo offense vs the isles D, that they would score 3 goals in 3 minutes.

HONORARIUS: he just proved my point, there is no neutral NHL fan who had any issues with what happened. One team tried to embarass the other, and obviously the flames retaliated. To claim Kipper has no skill shows you are not a neutral fan.

stupid people should be neutered. Lemieux got what he ASKED for. Even Scotty Bowman said in an interview that the whole situation could have been avoided if Lemieux had apologized, he didn't. Iginla butt ended Schneider, that's a cheap shot in anyone with more than 1 brain cells book. Go check the NHL record books for the fastest 3 goals scored, this is the playoffs, you don't let up, EVER.

And Qster, Roy got his bell rung by Vernon, go watch the video on you tube. Roy is bleeding like a stuck pig. But then again he was always a whiner too, great goalie, but a whiner. I watched his last game for Montreal, when he got lit up then pulled. Classic. McClennan gave up about 25% of his salary to swing his stick once, I hope he thinks it was worth it. Times like these I really miss Bob Probert and Joe Kocur. Iginila would have been spitting teeth for the next month.

Who will win the cup? Dunno, but it won't be CALGARY this year will it. Iginla deserves a suspension, he should be thankful he didn't get it. The replay shows without a doubt that it was intent to injure. Crushing body check, great, use a stick? GUTLESS. Be a man, drop the gloves, at least that way nobody will ever accuse you of being a spineless cheap shot artist. He didn't even challenge anyone.

Anybody else notice how quiet it got at the Pengrowth Saddledome when Franzen scored? I thought the sound on the tv had broken at first...........................

And the guy who jumped Claude Lemieux........... the Calgary Flames own beloved, Darren McCarty. So you may be on to something.........personally, I like Darren tho.

i completely agree vicious. there is no way andrew is a neutral fan. my team is the habs, and if detroit did that to us, i would pick 5 goons (if the habs had 5) and send them out there to beat the living crap out of the wings.

what do you expect when you try to run up the score in a 4-1 game with 5 mins left?

any neutral fan knows the wings are the team w/o class there, not the flames.... Iginla did the right thing. Detriot was trying to embarass the Flames, and that is all there is to it.

When buffalo is up 5-1 with 3 mins left, they do not try to score... and i dont even like buffalo (cuz of division rivalry).

that being said, what the flames did was wrong, and they got hit for it by fines and suspensions. However, i completely understand why they did it.

They are "crying" their way into the second round, so your words don't mean much. Truth is that ALL teams do this. Teams don't let up on scoring in hockey, regardless of how much they are winning by. That is hockey. Teams get mad when their players are run at, too. That is hockey. You can try to pin the "sissy" label on Red Wing fans, but I guarantee you that your teams' fans do the same thing. Sounds to me like you're the one crying because your team lost.

Yes, the only difference between Hasek swinging at Iginla and McLennan at Franzen is distance. You can be guaranteed that Iginla would not have been lying on the ice like he had been shot. So long as Detroit continues to have lots of talent and no heart their playoffs will be short.

first of all, the wings are way better than any team u like. second of all, they won the series. and if u were any kind of hockey fan u would have noticed that while in calgary, mickey redmond was wondering why the calgary fans were whining, he said there was no sign of any penalty nor should there be. so go wah wah wah urself because clearly ur angry that calgary lost. next time, think of what is actually happen. wah wah wah that &*^*&^

Mr jp2424 feels the same as I do. Each answer I have read I have agreed with completely. There is a place for the "Goons" in the NHL. like Jarome's butting incident should have been answered by Bob Probert that would put a stop to hooking with the butt of the stick in the ribs. If the commissioner chooses to ignore rule 46 the "Goons" can remind sissies like Jarome its not nice to butt some one in the ribs.
