I close out all my programs before I close the laptop. What I don't want to happen is a file being corrupted because I didn't close it. I open back up the files or programs I need after I open the laptop again.

First of all, a notebook is a laptop. It is the same thing. Just has a nickname.

If you plan to shut down your computer, it is highly recommended that you close all running programs.

If you plan to hibernate your computer, you can leave the running applications on so you can access them immediately after weaking up from hibernation.

If you plan to put your computer to sleep, you can leave the applications on.

If you plan to restart your computer, it is highly recommended that you close all applications first.

You have a great day.
