Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I have a Dream" speech...Why???

It was widely broadcast and finally let the average man/woman know excactly what people in the Civil Rights Movement wanted. They didn't have to rely on news reports or gossip to see what the goals of the movement were anymore.

This speech was given in at the Lincoln Memorial, Washington D.C. during the " March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom"...it is regarded as one of the greatest speeches in history by most scholars.

I think it was before Martin Luther King appeared on the scene. I believe it was when Jackie Robinson was signed by Branch Rickey to play for the Brooklyn Dodgers.

Robinson was a class act and great player rolled into one. Sports became the entry to American culture and paved the way for Martin Luther King and Ralph Abernathy.
