I'm a Liberal, all of my friends are Liberals, but a lot of us own guns--several guns--including handguns, short-barrelled tactical shotguns (designed for shooting at peoaple, not ducks), automatic or semi-automatic rifles commonly referred to as assault rifles, such as AK-47s, Armalites, AR-15 (an M-16 type rifle) and on and on. One of the most liberal guys I have ever known-- a college professor!!!-- has about 30 or so handguns!

Think this is odd? What about Hunter Thompson? He was as liberal as they come, and as gun-nutty as they come.

Good answers so far!

Nut like car nut, bike nut, fitness nut, etc. But good point!

Some thoughts: Lots of young people like Ayn Rand (and Nietchze!) and later become liberals; if you are young and think highly of yourself you'd probably like Rand and Nietchze. Problem is both would leave the weak to die, and most liberals later reject this as they get older.

But name some famous liberal gun nuts!!!

the hardship with liberals is basically that they understand lots that isn't so. The Liberal ideology is a theory , fostered by employing a delusional, illogical minority and which holds forth ideals that haven't any foundation rather. Making something a offender offense won't continuously stop it.. If weapons have been ever banned than basically the undesirable adult men could have them..Criminals prefer unarmed victims!! Having a gun won't help all the time yet being defenseless will by no ability help.. Calling 911 and asking the undesirable guy to attend isn't a practicable decision. greater beneficial to have a gun and not want it than to need it and not have it!!! Police do no longer take care of you from crime, they frequently basically look into the crime after it occurs. Arnie

I own several guns, mostly for hunting, but I do own 1 handgun. I do think there needs to be tighter control of the automatic and semi-automatic assault type weapons. There really is no practical reason for normal citizens to own such weapons. And if they won't go that far then put tighter controls on ammunition, especially hollow point, etc.

yeah i know plenty of so called liberals who own guns.

btw Hunter Thompson (rest in peace) was not a liberal in the classic sense. Thompson's early letters to friends suggest an interest in Ayn Rand's Objectivism, but he later moved radically away from Rand's version of politics and instead embraced a combination of libertarian, anarchist, and socialist views. (mainly an anarchist).

My best friend is a Liberal and a gun nut. If the police ever entered his house he would be called a radical nut job and he is the most stable person I know.

I don't think civilians should be allowed to own guns but if I were I would certainly go out and buy one or ten.

Just because you are against guns doesn't mean you don't like them - boys with their toys and all that.
