I have started my computer in safe mode but McAfee will not open. I want to do a scan in safe mode. Thanks in advance for your help.

If this is a problem with mcafee, you could try safe mode with networking, try it again, if not try downloading avg free from the link below, it definitely runs in safe mode, and can update itself when loaded from here. If you like it you could uninstall mcafee, if not uninstall avg after use. They also have anti-spyware and anti-rootkit downloads.

You can't, it's not "safe" :-)
To be serious - the morons who lasted McAfee togther where more interested in forcing you to pay subscriptions than in actually removing viruses - so in Safe Mode their 'subscription servce' won't run, which is too bad (you get to keep the virus)..
Get some real anti-virus software (like AVG) that WILL run in Safe Mode ...

For reasons I do not understand either McAfee will not run in Safe Mode. Or at least it won't for me either.
