I like it, but I think it's a little too much like you're trying too hard, and too much like you're trying to be cool. It's Ryder. What do you think?

I've heard this one out there. Not too often. I think there is a celebrity with a son by this name.

I LIKE the name a lot though. I agree with you - it's CooL!

Yes, I think it's trying a little too hard to be cool. You can identify a trendy name by thinking of it this way: when your kid is twenty, there will probably be a lot of college kids named Ryder. But there won't be any grown-ups over 30 in the working world with that name, and it'll be out of style by then and there won't be any little kids either.

Nah, I think it's a good name. I had a friend named Ryder in college. When I first heard the name before I met him, I didn't think anything of it. It's no "cooler" than any other name, it's different but not weird! My husband wanted to name our son Ziggy! Now that would be trying too hard, ha!

Ryder is the name of a trucking company. You know, the rental trucks. Heaven forbid your child is ever overweight cuz the kids will give him a hard time on the playground. Remember, kids are cruel. No matter how nice the name seems, think about what will happen later on down the line once he starts school and when he goes to get a job.

There were a few Ryders that I knew growing up. You may want to follow it with a more traditional second name and let the child have his choice as to what he wants to go by

It's different yet unique!

Hmph...I usually hate anything but the classics but for whatever reason, Ryder doesn't bug me. Kate Hudson and Chris Robinson's son is named Ryder. If your last name is dorky like Dinklehopper, than you may want to avoid.
