This never happened 10 years ago but now i see it all over. Is it wrong or illegal to do that. thanks.

Depends on what you mean by "illegal."

I don't see how so many people who don't seem to write like lawyers are so certain that it is not illegal.

If you mean is it a crime, it is probably not, BUT this question would take some research and MORE FACTS would need to be known. It seems you could dream up some circumstances where it might be a crime: You are in the office havingb a hear attack and at then end of 30 minutes, the doctor leaes the examination room and goes into another examination room to see another patient. THAT might be a crime!

What if you are only bleeding but not actually dying? Still might be a crime if a doctor starts to help you and then quits after 30 minutes.

Even if not a crime, it might be a civil wrong, called a tort (for which you can sue for money as damages or as a penalty or both), for a doctor to "abandon" a patient during treatment.

It might be a civil wrong or a tort for a doctor to accept patients who rely on being scheduled for treatment (and thus they don't seek treatment elsewhere) but get incomplete treatment because of the time limit.

A good lawyer can find something to sue pretty much any doctor for.

AND, there are all kinds of ethics rules for doctors and other rules, and specific laws, and on and on, regulating how doctors conduct their business (which they euphemistically call a "practice").

It is quite possible that this rule, especially if not announced in advance, violates some rule. There are penalties for rules violations.

Also, it seems it could violae the basic rle that doctors must perform their duties with a certain level of care. A rushed doctor is volating that rule.

IN my opinion, pretty much all doctors are breaking some law all the time because they are so (1) rushed and (2) sleep deprived and (3) over-confident that they don't check all possibilities. I can tell you that if a lawyer did his or her job they way pretty much all doctors do theirs, the lawyer would be fired and sued in an instant. When was the last time you asked a lawyer a question and he resonded by saying "X is definitely the answer"? Never. Lawyers will never answer anythng without doing thoorogh research first. Doctors anyswer EVERYTHING OFF THE TOP OF THEIR HEADS. If they turn out later to be wrong, they say oh well, sorry to wast your time or cause your death, but it's not my fault.

Doctors blame lawyers for lawsuits, but EVERY SINGLE judgement that ANY doctor ever had to pay was set by JURY OF ORDINARY FOLKS, not by lawyers.

Doctors should blame their own laziness and sloppiness for the money they have to pay in high malpractice insurance rates.

I wouldn't hire a doctor to sweep the friggin floor! Because I know it would not be done right, I'd still have to do it myself, and I'd still have topay the doctor for the lousy job or he'd report me to the credit bureau!

First of all, for all the people that call this pedophilia you need to get your facts straight! It is obvious you don't know what the heck you are talking about when you say that. A pedophile is one that only wants prepubescent children. That to me is a true sickness no matter if it is just in their thoughts, sexual fantasy or what not. Such a person needs help! This guy does NOT fall into that camp. BIG BIG DIFFERENCE. Have you seen 15 - 17 year old girls lately?!?! Do you ever get out of your house or what! They look older, they dress like prostitutes, they ARE having sex behind your back, and they certainly do NOT look like little kids. This is called jail-bait like the initial poster wrote. What he is attracted to is hot looking female bodies. No more, no less. By the way, 60 or so years ago it was not illegal for someone over 18 to have sex with someone 15 or 16. But homosexuality WAS illegal! Let me ask you which one REALLY seems more abnormal. An older guy attracted to a fresh young face with a youthful body or two guys doing you know what! Most of you can only think like you have been socially programmed to think so you will probably answer that wrong. But if you can still think for yourself you would most certainly realize the older guy/younger girl scenario is actually more normal. But that doesn't mean it is right. If he is looking at porn then either his sex life at home sucks or he just really doesn't have a loving connection with his wife. And it isn't necessarily her fault. They will have to find where the problem is and her confronting him could actually bring this out in the open. One thing I know for sure, you will never keep this a secret and live peacefully with him anymore so you might as well ask him about it.

It's the doctors business, they can run it anyway they want I guess? This is being driven by the insurance companies. For the dr. to make any $ they have to see as many patients as possible. If they get $35/office visit (what insurance pays) and they spend an hour with a patient. $35 hr x 8 hrs = $280 x 5 days = $1400/week x 50 weeks = $70K year.

Dr. has to pay office staff, malpractice insurance (which costs $100K+/year), plus pay huge school loans........

Being a Dr. these days is like being a waitress. Your income is dependent on turns. For a waitress it's turning tables, for a Dr. it's seeing the maximum number of patients in the least amount of time.

I'm sure you must be in a PPO or HMO where patients are treated as cattle. This is what we can all expect with Universal Health Care but it will not be 30 minutes, more likely 10 and 15 minutes will be stretching it. These doctors are paid on the number of patients they can see in a day. They have a quota to meet. That is more important than the person they are treating.

No I don't believe it is illegal. And think yourself lucky, at my doctors it is only 20 minutes. The reason for this is to deal with the greater numbers of people visiting the doctor now than in the past.

No, it's not. In fact, insurance companies figure on EIGHT minutes per visit. If you've been seeing the same doctor for a long time it's doubtful they would enforce that. My pain managment doctor and I regularly spend 30 -45 minutes per visit. It just depends on the doctor.

UNETHICAL, BUT NOT ILLEGAL. RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN. FIND ANOTHER DOCTOR. BEFORE YOU DO, TAKE A PICTURE OF THE POSTING, CALL THE AMA (AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION)!!! SEND A FORMAL COMPLAINT AND A COPY OF THE PHOTOGRAPH. YOUR DOCTOR SHOULD NOT SET TIME LIMITS, WALK OUT ON YOU AS YOU ARE SPEAKING, "RUSHING YOU", ETC. WHETHER OR NOT A DOCTOR HAS A BEDSIDE MANNER OR NOT, HOW ON EARTH IS THE DOCTOR SUPPOSE TO DIAGNOSE YOU WITHOUT "LISTENING TO THE PATIENT"!

No. A doctor has the right to limit visits anyway he wants to. Of course, if someone wants to ask a serious question and time's up and the person dies before s/he gets to ask it, he could have major liability issues.

It sounds a bit wrong, but no it's not illegal. At least this way he won't keep people waiting too long. But I think it's a blatant way to try to make more money, and it will probably backfire on him in the long run unless he's the only doctor in town.
