It's a great car inside and out. Mechanically it's sound and most people who own one loves their car. It is a bit plain on the interior but at least xenon headlamps are optional so you know the manufacturer took the time to properly engineer this car to even bother with designing such extravagant headlamps just for this option.

There is a problem with the rear suspension alignment. You may have to buy parts in order to adjust it properly when getting a 4 wheel alignment if it is out of specifications.

It is very reliable and easy on the pocket as far as maintanance goes. Basically, regular oil changes, tire rotations, air filters, 2 transmission flushes and 1 coolant flush by the 90k mile mark will suit this car fine. "Major 30k / 60k mile services" are not entirely necessary for these cars as they would be for others. The spark plugs (platinum) last 90k miles and no adjustments are needed. But regular oil changes should be performed at the dealer because the oil filter housing is a composite plastic which requires a special tool (although it is cheap - $15 - and available for the do it yourselfer) to prevent damage that would otherwise occur with the use of a standard oil filter wrench.

This is an excellent car for a teen driver or college student. The only thing I don't like is that for the same money (on a loaded model), you can get a Volkswagen GTI loaded with more power and a ton of options, but that is just my opinion.
