i liked the remake but not as much as the original.
the original--more characterization
the remake--more action and special effects
i was going to suggest that you watch the original but if you thought the remake was long and drawn out, you will probably hate the original--much longer, much more characterization, better acting (the new guys are okay too but the original had a stable of veteran actors pulling out all of the stops the learned over the years).
come to think of it, i am going to recommend that you watch the original. you may not know many of the older actors, but believe me, they are some real heavyweights.

I enjoyed it but I wasn't looking for anything stupendous. It had it's good points and bad points. I also didn't go into it to compare it to the original but as itself.

um, it was ok. It had sooo much potential, but it seemed that the film was made in a hurry. It's like in the first freakin 10 minutes, everyone starts dying. what is that?!?
