Why are white people called 'honkeys' or 'crackers'? What do these words actually mean?

The word Honkey was originated on the Jeffersons.

Cracker comes from the crack of the whip during slave times. it's the equivalent of the black 'n' word.

They're both really racist words directed towards white people. Basically the white version of the "n" word. The only difference is, when black people call white people honkeys or crackers, they can get away with it. But when a white person uses the "n" word, it's basically the end of the world. Even though both are taken just as offensively.

As to meanings, the word 'Honky' originated on the 'All In The Family',in reference to the constant bigotry espoused by Archie Bunker (a.k.a. "honking"). George Jefferson used the term, both on that program, and later on 'The Jefferson's'. It emerged as a common anti-white slur from there, on a par with the word 'n*gger'.
'Cracker' comes from the crack of the whip during slavery's height of existence, when blacks were overseen by white 'drivers' who used horsewhips to 'drive' the slaves during working time, and when punishing these people for real or imagined injustices they'd committed.

im not so sure about the honkey nickname but i know about the cracker one..what color is a cracker??generally white(ish) so thats how they came up with cracker and plus crackers(saltines)are square and most of the time african americans think that white people are squares:)
