Do you think that the music we listen to is really an expression of who we are inside?

Example: Do you think that people that like jazz are more likely to be more laid back and city dwellers? To break it down even further do you think that the people who like Korn over Chevelle more agressive inside? What type of music do you listen too and what bands/artist ? What do you think that might say about you?

Well... I listen to country and hip hop. I literally skip from B100 (country) to B96 (hip hop) when I'm in my truck. I like whatever sounds good to me. With country, it has to have a good meaning to it. With hip hop, it just has to be fun.

So, does this mean I have 2 personalities or what?
Serious, but like to have fun......... that's me, I guess.

I think that the music we listen to or make is an expression of what we want to be, like people that like jazz may want to be laid back and city dwellers but they could be a really easily stressed person that uses the music to express what they'd like to be. I like rock, pop, alternative, emo, country, rap, Classic Rock (love love love) and classical and opera (go figue, but its nice) I use all types of music to express my moods, i want different things at different times and I think that i choose my music to express that, I think that it might be subconcious, i may choose u2 over killswitch engage one morning without even realizing it and later that day I may be calmer because I started my day with calmer music, this is a really great question by the way!

well im a pretty laid back person, friendly, and guess what i listen to all kinds of music but my type is really more into metal..rock...KORN is my favorite band. people just see someone in a different way just cuz of the way they look or whatever but music is just another way of self expression...

I listen to country and yes but only to a certain extent.There is a song by trace adkins called "songs about me"And he sort of and your question in a way. but I figure you listen to what kind of music you do cause you can relate to it better. so I guess yes you can tell a lot about someone most of the time by the type of music they listen to but not always.

I don't really know. Probably. I really have to get in touch with my inner self it's been sulking recently and I think it might be self-harming. yeah, i guess so.i listen mainly to rock.fav bands-nirvana,metallica,linkin park,green day,evanescence,kelly clarkson.i also listen to eminem.it might say that i tend to get a bit of rebellious ideas every now & then.
