All that site has is someone sayin they wont accept treatment from stem cell derived research.

And well, actually, you never break it down into what kind of stem cells. you talking about embryonic, adult, or cord cell stem cells.

I have yet to find a treatment that has ever been developed from embryonic stem cells. On the other hand there are several I know of from cord cells.

Im a conservative and not against it. I just think its best to put the tax payer money on ones that have shown results and let the rest be worked on by the private sector if they think it warrants their money.

Well, consider that our taxes are paying for stem cell research, why shouldn't we enjoy the medical benefits derived from it?

Our taxes currently support Adult Stem Cell research, Embryonic Stem Cell research (It's true! and Bush was the FIRST president to fund this! But existing lines only - the peoples' money hasn't funded the destruction of more embryos.), and I believe Placental and Blood Stem cell research.

Now, the only one that conservatives have a problem with is embryonic, as it requires the destruction of a viable embryo - a human life - and there are profound ethical questions about such research.

And there's been no treatments derived from ESC research yet; most experts believe they are still many years away from finding any viable treatment, unlike with other stem cells.

Oh, the darned persistence of facts!

Nice way to show your ignorance, moron.

For your information, conservatives do not oppose all forms of stem-cell research.

The issue on the table is federal funding of EMBRYONIC stem-cell research, and at its core this issue goes back to the abortion debate. That is, the question presented is the definition of human life. Many, myself included, believe that destroying embryos is wrong, that they are alive and have as much a soul as you or me.

That said, there is absolutely no reason to really support embryionic stem-cell research, because to date, embryonic stem-cell research has not yielded a single cure or treatment for a single disease.

ADULT stem-cell research on the other hand has yielded cures/treatments for DOZENS of diseases, sometimes using cells even from the victim's own body.

But again, the issue is federal funding. Many would not have a problem if embryonic stem-cell research was carried out in the private sector with private funds.

You do not know the difference between Adult Stem Cell Research and Embryonic Stem Cell Research. Besides private funding from many of what you would call elites fund embryonic stem cell research. Just no federal $$

Do you know the difference between Adult Stem Cell Research and Embryonic Stem Cell Research?

No

Didn't think so

Repubs are only against Embryonic Stem Cell Research which to date has only created tumors on some lab animals. Other than this big "promise" on making people walk it has done NOTHING.

sigh.....you do know that we have been funding stem cell research for years now right? The government has funded non embryonic stem cell research for a long long time and it has brought forth cures. The big issue is embryonic which is derived from abortions. This is not funded, although it is not illegal to use in research. My tax dollars just don't pay for it. Now don't you feel just a little bit silly?

I'm going out on a limb here but I would guess the site you linked to is not the most fair and balanced source of information available on the internet.

Maybe if you want to ask a real question we would give you a real answer.

Edit _ Oh, I looked closer. Because no one has signed the statement on your irrelevant site you take that as proof? Maybe you should volunteer you stem cells for research. Would be a better use of the space you are currently occupying.

That's the fun part of this. When libs use other libs to back up their opinions. Pardon me while I laugh.

We have a new phrase for when libs say something stupid and then try to flip-flop their way out of their careers which are circling the drain. Thanks to Hydrant Head Kerry and Toupee Reid, now when a lib sticks he size 13s in his mouth we call it committing HARRY-KERRY.
