How big are the packages of diapers? If they're the Costco size cases that have 250 diapers in them, then yes you have WAY too many size one. But if they're the smaller packages that only have about 50 diapers in them you'll probably be fine. Of course, as everyone else has pointed out, it really depends on what size baby you have and how fast he/she grows.
I'd guess that you'll be fine on the newborn size. The hospital sends you home with the remaining package that you use there, and then one more should get you through the first week. Then into size one. You can estimate about 8-10 diapers per day, you really fly through them at first. Based on my own 5 month old average sized baby, we used size one for about 2 months--probably about 500-600 size one diapers.

Well, with my daughter I have 4 packs of the newborn (2 were gifts, 2 I bought) and then I just bought 2 jumbo packs of size 1. Both my boys were only 7lbs7oz and 7lbs5oz and plus when they are newborns you end up changing there diaper so many times a day that I don't think it's to many and I haven't opened the packs so if I need to I can exchange them. With the size 1's I really don't know how fast my daughter will grow so that will get me started and if I need more I'll go get more or maybe by the time she's out of size 1 it'll be time for size 2. It's really hard to say cause we never know how big our babies will be and how fast they will grow. I would hold on to the size 1 and not open them and just wait and see!! Good Lucks & Congrats!!

Not at all! You'll be amazed at how many diapers you'll go through for the first six months or so. :) When you say "pack," do you mean the jumbo packs that have 100 or so diapers in them, or actual cases? Either way, you'll be going through many a diaper in the beginning. Babies don't need to be changed nearly as often as people think they do. Usually every hour or so (this is for wet diapers. For poopy diapers, change them asap!), but if you're like most new parents, you'll be changing after ever little pee...no matter now small it was. :)
Do you know if babies on your or your husband's side have a tendency to run large? At my shower, I receive several CASES of newborn diapers, and both my kids never did fit into them. One was 8 lb. 4 oz. and the other was 8 lb. 11 oz. They both went straight to a size 1. :) The hospital will provide diapers for your baby while you're there. If the newborn diapers don't fit, just have your husband go out and exchange them for a larger size. Most large retailers (Wal Mart, Target, Babies R Us, etc.) will exchange an unopened pack.

You shouldn't have too many of the size one diapers! If anything you may need more! Maybe not... Newborns go through a lot of diapers in a day more so than an older baby does. now i wouldn't get anymore of the newborns b/c of the fact you don't know just how big your baby will be! If you want you could get more of the size 2 b/c you will need more than just 2 or 3 packs of those! i hope that i have helped you a bit

Well, it depends on how many diapers are in each pack. But, I found that I went through a lot of size ones because I couldn't bear for my tiny baby to be the least bit wet. So I used a lot of diapers in the beginning.
I'm an adoptive mom so I bottle-fed but my rule of thumb for how many diapers we used a day was always how many bottles per day plus two. So, if baby has 6 bottles a day, I always guesstimated 8 diapers per day is what I'd need.
They grow out of ones really fast. I'd just hang on to the ones and if you have any left over when it's time to move up, just exchange them at the store.
Congrats on your pregnancy!

You really can't expect an exact cound on each size. Some babies are in a size one for a month where as my son was in a size one for a week. so it's really hard to tell. It all depends on how big they are when they're born and how fast they plump up and grow. i saved all mine and then returned them as he grew out of them. Open up one at a time and if you don't think you'll use the whole bag before they go up a size just go to the next size. It saves money and you won't be throwing away tons of diapers

It really depends on how fast your baby grows. But with my baby I only used one pack of newborns. One big box of size one's and then about 3 big boxes of size 2's. The younger they are the more diapers they go through. But like you said you can always exchange them. Good luck with the new little one and congrats!

keep everything you've got, and you'll also need more. in the beginning it depends on the size of your baby, most start out on newborns. just keep in mind that in the beginning, the baby will poop every time they eat, which is average about every 3 hours, so you'll be going through diapers pretty quick. when you buy more, don't bother buying the small packages, get the biggest package they offer. walmart sells them in big boxes. and if the baby outgrows them before it can wear them, you can either exchange them or donate them to a clothing drive for needy families.

I don't think you have too many! Newborns go to the bathroom quite a lot at that time and to prevent them from getting diaper rash you need to change them very frequently. And also, sometimes once you change them and think 'ok all clean' they make a huge mess a second later and woops you have to change them again :-) So, no you don't have too many but don't open them until you need to because if you do find that your baby grew too fast you can just exchange them.

My twins were in a size two when I potty trained them at 14 months. They were little and used a lot of size ones. My first son got so big so fast he was barely able to use one pack of ones. My youngest son wore ones until he was a couple of months - he is the closest to average size, I think.
