How many people, like me, find it odd that Bush is so defensive and protective of Gonzales. The congress doesn't trust Gonzales, people don't like him and even the Republicans are asking some pretty pointed qwuestions..

And yet, Bush, goes on defending him. is he afraid of a little blackmail perhaps... has Gonzales done enough dirty jobs for him that he figures he'd better defend him.

Makes you wonder.. in this dirty Whitehouse.. it does make you wonder.

The only ones wondering are the liberals with an agenda. No one hates Gonzales except the left wing liberals and one two faced Republican the liberals keep using as a sample that the right hates him too. Sounds to be like your all frustrared because he won't relent and give in to your insistant nagging about doing his job. Bush should defend him, he did his job and the left wing wacko's cannot stand that he just uped and fired their mole attorneys, and are picking on him trying to make a scapegoat out of him for their witch hunt. Too bad, he had a right to fire those attorneys, and didn't have to have a reason, so get over it.

No, you don't "have to wonder" because if you've been paying attention these past 6 years, you'd see that Bush has a fierce loyalty to his people, to the point where it sometimes is his undoing.

Rumsfeld was under constant attack and second-guessing for years, but always held the president's confidence. There was "Brownie" and "superb" job he was doing at FEMA. There was his Supreme Court nomination of long-time counsel Harriet Miers. Etc, etc.

This pattern has been quite obvious since he came into office, so I fail to see why this loyalty should all of a sudden be taken for something nefarious.

I know, I know. I'm thinking the exact same thing. I mean they even got rid of RumsFAILED, they even threw Scooter Libby under the bus, why are they protecting this guy tooth and nail? Public opinion, congressional opinion including leading Republicans, even Newt Gingrich of all people feel that he should step down or be fired. What's the deal, what does he know?! I agree, in this dirty White House we now have, it could mean anything. Good intuition, my friend.

EDIT: What the sheeple cons on here don't realize that these firings occured because the AG wanted these fired lawyers to prosecute innocent people only because they are Dems in order to sway upcoming elections (aka VOTER FRAUD), and also some wanted to prosecute Repubs. in alleged criminal activity, but the White House wanted to protect them. If it was a Dem. pres doing this, I would be just as upset about it. Why do people keep protecting immoral, coercive and illegal activities just b/c they play on the same "team" as you. Geez, grow some morals, why don't you?

Maybe Bush has a little more class than to turn his back on someone like that? He is the president of the United States, it wouldn't be very tasteful of him to just boot him to the side, and join the rest of the world in stoning him. If you were in that situation wouldn't you want someone to back you or give you support?

Debra - Just in case nobody has ever taken the time to explain things to you, I will .

Let it go. ... Just let it go . There is no conspiracy , there was no law broken . Let's see if you can read and understand the following very simple statement. . . . . . .. .The attorneys serve at the pleasure of the President .. .. . . . . . . did it work ? Do ya get it yet ?. . . . The President can hire and fire any and all of them with NO REASON WHATSOEVER . . . Did it work that time ? Do ya get it now ?

Save whatever credibility you have left and move on . Your party has lied to you and you bought it .

It is not odd for a president to protect the executive branch's power from encroachment by the legislative branch

Bush brought him in to get the Mexican vote.....he even looks like he's abandoning him and they wouldn't have a good reason to vote for the party next election......
