I will be 39 weeks on Wednesday AM with baby number three. I have gestational diabetes and am extremely uncomfortable and I have too much amniotic fluid. Dr. has decided it would be best to induce. I am very nervous and haven't any clue what to expect. I am a little worried that baby is never going to drop into place. She has been flipping around so much b/c of the extra fluid and hasn't engaged at all. Dr. can barely feel cervix or baby's head. I wonder if anyone could let me know what could happen during induction and calm any fears. Thanks so much!

You'll get there and they will: take your vitals, hook you up to the baby monitor for an initial heartbeat check. Start an IV, possibly some labs. Depending on how your doc chooses to induce, they could put a cream or something to help with your cervix, or they could just start pitocin.
Good luck to you though. I went through that with the first one and it wasn't to bad.

Inducing isn't really that bad. It just speeds things up that everything usually comes on stronger faster. Just expect to go from mild to contractions to pretty painful ones rather quickly. i dialated from a 2 to a 10 in an hour so things really do progress. The nice thing is that if you're getting an epidural they'll do that for you relatively soon so you won't be in pain for too long at the beginning. then they will probably turn your epidural down when you start to push and you'll feel the contractions again. But more than likely instead of being in labor for 12 hours like you might if you weren't induced you'll probably only be in there for half the time before baby!! Just go in relaxed and don't expect the worse. It will all be okay

Don't stress. You will go in and they will give you an IV. Most times they will give you Pitocin. You sit around for a few hours and your labor will start. The contractions are a bit worse with the meds but you are in the hospital and can have the epidural as soon as posible. They may break your water for you start you going better. But over all you are going to be fine. Plus you know when you get to have your baby and when you have to ready. Good luck!

My wife was induced all 4 times because her bag broke before she had any contractions.

Active labor under the pitocin is heavier than under normal labor and delivery. So you'll want the epidural. I know every women is different, but with my wife from the time they introduced the pitocin to the time of birth was generally 4 hours.

Have lots of sex!! A man's sperm is known to help release the hormone to help induce labor and if the baby is ready, you will be on your way! Also, if you have orgasm with him that can help start contractions too. Good Luck!! btw: when I was induced it prolonged my labor but it was about 10 hrs long and pretty painful.

its now not as unhealthy as you may also feel. i've been caused with either one of my women. you'll be able to devour something you wish earlier than. i grabbed mcdonalds at the means into the health facility this time! (it is scheduled c-sections you cant devour for 12 or so hours earlier than) you'll be able to additionally devour something till you get an epidural- then they advocate most effective transparent beverages. believe me tho- you wont be hungry til it is in all places! with petocin. it does start operating relatively rapidly, however they begin you off with an excessively small dose and progressively broaden- so your exertions works adore it could certainly, gradual and uncomfortable to rapid and robust contractions. they then most often holiday your water (doesnt harm, simply feels bizarre) while you're round 3cm after which they most often present you an epidural while you're round 4cm dialated. I used to be occupied simply speakme to my hubby and looking television and the moniters, however that's as much as you. the time honestly is going by way of lovely rapid (for you in any case!). plus you're prompted to leisure up for the enormous supply! i couldnt sleep, so i texted individuals and checked fb on my cell! lol suppose loose to e mail me in case you have some other q's- i might be blissful to ease your fears! well success! :)
