Its a very old computer '99 and it runs windows 98. The computer recognizes the ethernet card (2 different ones), but when the software to to connect the computer to the modem is run it's never successfull in connecting to the internet.

The cable must goto a router or a cable model with a RJ45 connection, you may need to power off the modem first, then tun on the PC afterward.
Also on the PC, you need to set the connection to Never dial a connection and IP address/DNS to auto

go into your network options folder, and click on make a new connection, it should go from there.
