If you go to ether Advance Auto Parts or O Reilly's and give them all of the details (2000 3.8 V6 Mustang with 76k ) then thy can pull up that kind of information up on there computer. P.S. I would not take my car to one of those stupid oil change places i would just do it myself, I just had a bad experience with Express oil change and i feel like those kind of places are a rip off. It is cheaper for you to change the oil yourself. You should use Lucas Brand oil stabilizer each time you change your oil, but just remember that if your car requires 5 QUARTS then put in only 4 QUARTS PLUS THE OIL STABILIZER ( Not the full 5 quarts plus the stabilizer)

Unfortunately it is a 3.8 v6 ford engine, so stick with regular old Motorcraft oil or any other off brand cheap stuff like Value Craft, Crown, Stewarts, etc. I use Mobil 1 in my corvette. My sister uses Castrol in her Toyota. Oh, The reason why I said use Ford's Motor Craft oil is simply because the 3.8 is prone to oil leaks, cracking, cam snapping, and head gasket/ head problems, seal leaks, valve replacements, timming issues, warping, and especially over heating. As far as the oil leaks are concerned synthetic oils should not be used because a synthetic oil will only leak even faster in an engine with a leak. So stay with the cheap stuff so you don't really waste your hard earned money. Sell the car before it costs you much more in the long run.

Depends on climate and the way you drive, but a 5W30 or 10W40 is fine for normal driving.
As for brand, any brand will do, as long as you change the oil and filter on time (changing on time is much more important than grade and brand.)

Use a syhthetic oil and the grade is what the manufacturer recommends. 5W-30. Personally, I like Mobil One, but others are saying that Royal Purple is good.

Synthetic oil is the best, although more expensive. You should stick to whatever grade (5w30) that the manufacturers manual says for your specific engine.
