Our infant daughter was incredibly sick all of last week with severe diahrea which everyone chalked up to a stomach virus.

She literally started getting bumps on her back last night and today (her first day back to daycare in over a week) they called and said they thought she might have measles.

Now I'm reading where diahrea is a symptom.

Surely a "symptom" wouldn't be around for a week before onset of measles ..

We have an appt. scheduled for 4:30 with the pediatrician.

Just doing research in the meantime ..

Diarrhea can be a complication of measles but is not a symptom. Symptoms include rash, high fever, cough, runny nose, and red, watery eyes (lasts about a week). The rash usually appears about 14 days after exposure and lasts 5 to 6 days. It begins at the hairline, then involves the face and upper neck. Over the next 3 days, the rash gradually proceeds downward and outward, reaching the hands and feet.

Measles are very rare and if your daugher was vaccinated pretty much unlikely at all. Your child care profivor saunds pretty ignorant. Infants get rashes with several types of illnesses. On eof the most common is what is called fifths disease. sounds scary but really it just means baby has a virus witha mild fever, some diareah, maybe some congestion and a light bumpy red rash. Strep can cause a red bumpy rash. Your child can also have simple roto virus often picked up in child care centers. Becuase of the age a fever can bring on a rash and a candida rash can be a seprate issue from everything else.

See your pediatricin and i am sure they will tell you it is on eof the above I listed and start seeking a new child care. I wouldnt want to take my child to a care center that was that ignorant.
