What's the best age to take the training wheels off a kids bike?

Many of my daughter's friends were riding quite confidently without training wheels at age 4.
However, I then removed hers and she's now 5 and after many hours spent with me running alongside her, she still cannot ride it. This means she has been unable to play on her bike since. It is down to the individual child.
I have tried a different tack with my son who is now 4. I bought him a 2 wheel scooter for his birthday and am going to wait until he can balance happily on that before removing the training wheels from his bike. This may be a something for you to try.

i had those toddler motorcycles like the tricycles while i replaced into 2 and 3 and while i replaced into 4 i've got been given a bike with training wheels and while i replaced into 5 i found the thank you to experience devoid of training wheels. so i think of the standard age would be 4. oh and 5-7 is a stable age variety to take training wheels off. desire i helped!

Try this. Instead of using training wheels take the pedals off the bike. Let your kid balance him or herself while coasting along the sidewalk. When you see that they have mastered the balancing part put the pedals back on. You may be surprised at how fast they learn to ride the bike without the use of training wheels. Good luck!

It depends on the child themselves (whether they are emotionally ready). Most parents takle the wheels off around age 4. Encouragement will assist the child with learning positively.

It has nothing to do with age! It has everything to do with the skill of the child and how much time the parent has put in teaching them how to ride! You take the trainers off as soon as they can ride on their own!!!
