We planted 17 pinkie hawthorns to fram the yard last year. They've already flowered this year, and some are looking "leggy". How far back & when can I trim them?

After it's growing season. That's a basic rule of thumb to remember . As for how much, another rule of thumb is 1/3 removal,

Prune all flowering shrubs after they bloom. Usually removing 1/3 of the growth. Or what is most aesthetically pleasing to you.
